Attorney and developer Carl Paladino, an outspoken criti of the , plans to send a lettetr this week tothe Partnership’s board of directors asking them to retirw Andrew Rudnick, president and CEO of the agencyt since its creation, and provide betteer advocacy on behalf of the region’s business If the board doesn’t act withi 30 days, Paladino said he will petition the nearly 2,500 members of the Partnership to stop paying dues and leaved the agency. If another 30 days pass and nothingt changes, Paladino said he will begin the process of forming a separatd chamberof commerce.

The city’s Departmenft of Housing and Community Development began seeking developers in two months after President Barack Obamwa signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Actof 2009. Projectxs must be eligible forfederal low-income tax housinyg tax credits, government-issued tax breaks that developer s can use to attracty private financing. The value of the tax creditsw has fallen dramatically inthe recession, leaving many projectes with shortfalls.
DHCD is hoping to maximize fundinv for projects that will provide unitwfor elderly, special needs or chronicall homeless individuals and families in need of supportived services. Spokeswoman Angelita Colon-Francia said she was not sure when the agency will makefunding decisions.
