OpTech will be utilizing the port’ s Foreign-Trade Zone (FTZ #10-80) to accept the tuna shipmentf on behalf ofits client, an international importer based out of OpTech would not disclose the importer’s Customers use FTZs to accept and store international shipments befor they are tested, labele d and packaged for FTZs allow products be held in the zone withouyt being subject to import duties or other ad valoremm taxes. OpTech is a tenant at Port San Antonio, a master-planned logistics center built on the former Kelly Air Force The entire site is a FTZ for which all tenantes can activate forbusiness purposes.
Port San Antonio Busines s Development Vice President Jorge Canavati worked three years finalizing the deal for PortSan “This is what Port San Antonio is all says Canavati of the finalization of this “We have the ability to accept shipments from around the world.” The California customer delivering the shipmenf specializes in sales of private label products to nationap distributors, food service distributor and retail grocery chains. The companty also supplies many major manufacturers with ingredients suchas beef, tuna, pineapple, mushrooms, fruit, vegetables, shellfish and fin fish.

Designated as a Foreign-Tradr Zone, Port San Antonio is a 1,900 acre International Logistics Centerd which houses aninternational heavy-air cargoi airport, a railport and onsite access to multiple interstatw highways. Port San Antonio has a federal inspectionm station operated bya full-timw customs border patrol officer who is available to inspecty international air and rail cargo.
